The Ford GT is Back!

We reported on the rumors earlier this year, but now we finally get to see the real deal! That's right the Ford GT is returning this year!  Although it does bear a strong resemblance to the Ford GT that inspired us growing up, the internals have been upgraded to the latest cutting edge technology. The supercharged V8 is now gone, replaced by a Ecoboost engine. But this is not just any old Ecoboost, this is a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine with 'more than' 600bhp pushing those rear wheels.  And although we don't have exact figures yet, you can bet that running on an Ecoboost engine, you can probably afford to drive it! Aerodynamics play a huge role in keeping the weight down on this beast, and is evident from the styling which is way more intricate  and involved than the rather retro looking GT of ten years ago.  There is a wealth of carbon fibre to keep the weight down as well.  A carbon passenger cell is joined by carbon in chassis components too.  Ford promises that these things combined will give the GT one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production cars. Gone is the GT's manual transmission replaced by a seven-speed paddle shifter, while the interior features a fully customizable instrument display sitting behind a steering wheel free of stalks, and although the seat is fixed the pedals and wheel are adjustable. Everything comes together to make what looks to be one mean machine!
